Verhaeghe Nets Game-Winner in Overtime

Panthers Rally from Two-Goal Deficit to Secure Victory

In a thrilling overtime battle on Saturday night, the Florida Panthers rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat the New York Islanders 4-3. Carter Verhaeghe scored the game-winning goal just 1:33 into the extra period, sending the Panthers to their third straight victory.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Panthers showed resilience and determination. Anton Lundell scored a power-play goal in the second period to cut the lead in half, and Sam Bennett tied the game with a goal late in the third period.

The Islanders regained the lead with a goal from Brock Nelson just over two minutes into overtime. However, the Panthers refused to give up and Verhaeghe capitalized on a turnover to score the game-winner.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 31 saves for the Panthers, while Ilya Sorokin stopped 27 shots for the Islanders. The Panthers improved to 16-11-4 with the win, while the Islanders fell to 12-12-5.
