Can You Share a Game Card?
It is possible for two players to play on one game card, however, the game saves to the cartridge, not the system itself. This means that if you lose your cartridge, you will lose your save data. There are a couple of situations where it is possible to move your save data to a new cartridge, but it does not sound like your case falls into either of those categories.
The more normal way to move your save data is to just move your character to a new town. To do this, you will need to talk to Isabelle at the town hall and select the "Move Out" option. You will then be able to create a new character and move into a new town.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a simulation game for the Nintendo 3DS released on November 8, 2012. It is the fourth main installment in the Animal Crossing series. In the game, the player takes on the role of the mayor of a town and is responsible for managing the town and its inhabitants.
