Kansas Tornadoes Cause Widespread Damage and Injuries
Four Injured, Hundreds of Buildings Damaged After Two Tornadoes Strike Wichita

At least four people were injured and hundreds of buildings were damaged after two tornadoes hit the Wichita, Kansas, area on Friday evening, according to officials.
The first tornado touched down near Sedan, Kansas, in Chautauqua County, at approximately 5:51 PM. It was moving northeast at 30 mph at the time.
The second tornado touched down near Wichita at around 6:15 PM. It moved through the city's suburbs, causing significant damage to homes, businesses, and other structures.
Wichita Mayor Brandon Whipple declared a state of emergency following the tornadoes. He urged residents to stay off the roads and allow emergency crews to access the damaged areas.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado watch for more than 40 Kansas counties as the severe weather system moved through the state on Friday evening.
The tornadoes are a reminder of the importance of being prepared for severe weather. Residents should have a plan in place in case of a tornado warning and should be familiar with the safety precautions to follow.
